Q. How do I obtain a PowerSchool logon (userid/password) to access my student's grades?
A. Parents are mailed a notification letter with the PowerSchool logon for their child at the beginning of every school year. If lost or never received, please contact us online, providing your information along with your child's name and school. A new letter will be mailed to you. For security reasons, we do not email logon information to parents.
Q. May I change my PowerSchool password?
A. No, the system randomly generates the passwords and these are non-changeable.
Q. If I lose my logon information for PowerSchool, what should I do?
A. If lost or never received, please contact us online, providing your information along with your child's name and school.
Q. I'm having trouble logging on. Do you have some suggestions?
A. Please check the following options first:
» The most frequent problem parents have is the system not accepting the username/password combination. PowerSchool passwords are a combination of letters & numbers. Please enter your password exactly as it was spelled in the letter you received. Sometimes a capital "I" looks like a one "1", a capital "B" looks like an eight "8", a capital "O" looks like a zero "0", etc. Please try various combinations before reporting a problem.
» We recommend using Internet Explorer as your browser. Please check the following settings in Internet Explorer:
1. Cache = 0 MB
2. Update Pages = Always or Each Time
3. Cookies = On
4. Java Script = On
You may need to contact your own Internet Provider for further assistance. |
» Try logging on from another computer. Computer settings may be different from one computer to another.
» If you continue to have trouble logging on,If lost or never received, please contact us online, providing your information along with your child's name and school.
Q. May I view my child's grades online at any time or is it limited to just certain times of day?
A. Parent access to PowerSchool is not limited to certain times of day, unless our servers are being updated. A message will always appear on the logon screen of the status of the server.
Q. May the non-custodial parent see the child's grades?
A. Yes, the parent notification letter sent from your child's school is mailed to both the custodial and non-custodial parent.
Q. May I request progress reports be emailed to me? If so, how?
A. The following reports may be requested and automatically emailed to parents:
» Summary of current grades and attendance
» Detailed reports showing all assignment scores for each class
» Detailed report of attendance
» School announcements (when available) |
To set up the request for electronic reports, please see the Email Notification section on the Instructions page.
Q. What is the proper procedure to follow if I have questions regarding my child's grades in a class?
A. It is best that you contact your child's teacher directly, either by email or phone. This will result in the quickest resolution to your question.
Q. Why does it bring up the logon screen every so often when I'm in PowerSchool?
A. PowerSchool requires parents to re-logon after 10 minutes of inactivity. Simply logging back on returns parents to the active screen they were on.
Q. I've added up the total number of points my student has accumulated in a class and divided it by the total points possible and come up with a different grade than what's showing in PowerSchool. Will you explain?
A. This difference is probably related to the weighting applied according to the weighted grading scale in place. Tests and quizzes may be weighed differently than homework and projects.
