I have loved teaching for over 30 years. I have been a primary teacher for most of my career and love working with children. I believe that children are the best part of teaching. I have a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. Outside of school, I live in Richland with my husband. I have two married daughters.  One of them is a teacher too!  I am also a proud grandma!

Week of Mar. 4 to 8

Dr. Seuss week.  
Celebrate by dressing up.  Flier was sent 
Monday: dress like a grown-up or wear comfy clothes (pjs)

Language Arts: We are continuing to work on the story Volcanoes. We are focusing on the r-controlled vowels, root words irregular vowels and compare/contrast.

Week of Feb. 19 to 23

We are working on the story, Volanoes.  Skills include: compare/contrast, similies, irregular verbs and ar and or sound.

Math: We are working on measuring and comparison including arm spans and using a tape measure.

Our class did "Ayatori"- Japanese String Art.  Kids loved it.  Parents, do you remember doing this when you were young?

Reading/Language arts: We are finishing up the story, Dear Primo.  It covers letter writing, comparing and contrasting, linking verbs, compound words and spelling pattern of er, ir and ur.

Week of Feb. 5 to Feb. 9

Valentine Cards can be brought in starting on Wednesday, Feb. 7.
 
We will be working on Valentine's projects and Chinese New Year in Social Studies.  
 
In both reading and math, Miss Shuagis and I are both teaching.  We have grouped the students so that students will receive more attention in smaller groups.
In math, We will be finishing Unit 6 on addition and subtraction strategies and moving to Unit 7.

Reading Language Arts: We are starting Unit 4. We will be focusing on compare and contrast, compound words, spelling words with silent letters and using linking verbs.

Math: we are working on problem solving strategies.  They include change to more, part/part=total and quantitiy/quantity = difference.

Reading/Language Arts  We are finishing up unit 5 and moving to the review of unit 3.  Please check nightly for assignments in agenda. We will be reviewing long vowels, antonyms, verb tense, main idea/details and prefixes.
