Mrs. Deborah Weiland » Introduction

Welcome to the Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) website. I’m Mrs. Weiland and I live in the northern end of Cambria County on a few acres of ground in an 1850’s farmhouse. My FCS education degree is from IUP. I earned a Master’s of Education from St. Francis. I hold professional memberships in the American and Pennsylvania Chapters of FCS. Continuing education and personal growth is important to me so I regularly take classes and workshops that are fulfilling professionally and personally.

FCS courses are designed to help students make a successful transition to adults that are productive, independent and successful. All seventh graders spend 30 days in FCS learning to focus and doing self-awareness activities. Electives at the high school level include basic and advanced cooking classes, Fitness and Nutrition, Child Development and Senior Survivor. Penn Highlands credit can be earned for Child Development. More information regarding individual courses will be available soon on a Google Site that is currently under construction.

In my spare time I love spending time with family and friends keeping traditions alive and making new ones. I enjoy many hobbies including working on our house, collecting and restoring antiques, decorative painting, pysanky egg decorating, gardening, reading, badminton and hiking with my dog. In the winter I enjoy snowshoeing and cross country skiing.

I look forward to getting to know your student and doing my best to help them fulfill their potential.
