Hello and thank you for visiting our page! My name is Craig Montag and I am the sixth grade science teacher at Richland Elementary School. This is my second year teaching Earth/Space Science at Richland, and I am very excited to teach the content to my sixth grade students. Although this is my third year teaching at Richland, I have been teaching now for nine years. After graduating from Penn State in 2009, I took my first teaching job in Mifflin County. I taught two years in Mifflin County before returning to the area. I spent five years teaching a 5th grade classroom at Central Cambria School District. Although I loved my years teaching at Central Cambria, I always knew that I wanted to return to Richland to be a Ram again.
As a teacher, I feel that gaining the students respect is the most important aspect of being a successful teacher. I encourage the students to give me a copy of their extra-curricular activities so that I can attend their events to see their accomplishments outside of school. This goes a long way with showing them that I am not just interested in their success in the classroom. Also, it is vital that the students learn to respect each other. If the students respect their teacher and each other, then it lends to a much more successful school year.
If you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year, please do not hesitate to contact me. It is vital that we all stay on the same page throughout the year; teacher, parents, and student.
Please use this website to check for upcoming assignments, classroom events, and other information that will help you to keep in touch with your child's education.
