I have loved teaching for over 30 years. I have been a primary teacher for most of my career and love working with children. I believe that children are the best part of teaching. I have a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. Outside of school, I live in Richland with my husband. I have two married daughters.  One of them is a teacher too!  I am also a proud grandma!

This week, your child was given a password to use First in Math.  This program is a great way to practice math facts in a fun way and on their level.  The password is inside their agenda.   The website is www.firstinmath.com.   Give it a try enjoy.

Here is our class posing with the letters we received from Emerald Hill Elementary in Culpeper VA and the letters we were sending in return.
This is a sample of letters we are sending as pen pals to Emerald Hill Elementary School.   Mrs. Rifilato's daughter is a teacher there.  Our class plans to correspond several times during the school year.

Please remember to check the weather as this past week it began to cool off.  Please send jackets with your student for recess.

We are studying about Johnny Appleseed this week in Social Studies.  Ask your child about him.   In reading, we are enjoying the story of Teacher's Pets.   We are practicing sequencing, nouns and author's purpose.

Our class worked with place value and build creations and counted hundreds, tens and ones.  Students were very creative.

Our class had a great week.  We worked hard in reading.   You can look for books in the library about Henry and Mudge.  There are lots of them to enjoy.

Back to School

It was so nice to meet so many of you on Back to School Night.   Remember to back a healthy snack for school on mOnday to Thursday.  Parents, be sure to check for your child's folder and agenda nightly.

Our class is ready for third grade.  We have learned so much.   Don't forget to keep reading over the summer.  Enjoy a chapter book.   Remember to keep up on math facts and practice money if you are shopping.
