Richland Elementary School has been named Title I Distinguished School by the PA Department of Education

The Richland Elementary School, located at 321 Schoolhouse Road, Johnstown, Pennsylvania 15904 has been named a Title I Distinguished School for the 2018-2019 school year by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Division of Federal Programs.  The PA Department of Education selected 158 Title I schools (out of approximately 1700) to be recognized. The Pennsylvania Department of Education, Division of Federal Programs, will honor Richland Elementary School in January at the 2019 Title I Improving Schools’ Performance Conference in Pittsburgh.

Each year, the Division of Federal Programs honors the top performing Title I schools in Pennsylvania. This year, they used the approved ESEA Flexibility Waiver designation of Reward: Highest Achievement and Reward: High Progress.

 

Reward: High Achievement Schools are the highest 5% of Title I schools based on English Language Arts (ELA) and Math PSSA proficiency that met all four Annual Measurable Outcomes (AMOs).

 

Reward: High Progress Schools are the highest 5% of Title I schools based on English Language Arts (ELA) and Math Pennsylvania Value-Added Assessment System (PVAAS) growth that met all four Annual Measurable Outcomes (AMOs).

 

Title I is a 100% federally funded supplemental educational program that provides financial assistance to local educational agencies to improve learning opportunities. Title I programs are designed to help children meet the state content and performance standards in reading, language arts, and mathematics.
