SCHOOL COUNSELING VISION STATEMENT

The Richland High School Counseling Program is comprehensive, developmental, and systematic.  It is sequential, clearly defined, and accountable.  It is jointly based upon developmental psychology, educational philosophy, and (school) counseling methodology (ASCA 1997).  The Richland High School model complies with the national standards that reflect professional inquiry, extensive practice, and evaluative research.  These standards serve as an organizational tool to identify and prioritize the elements of our program.

The Richland High School Counseling Program is driven by the academic, career, and personal/social developmental needs of our students.  This model serves all students and acknowledges the diversity and individual differences within our school and community.  The nature of this model helps ensure opportunity for all students to participate fully in the educational process.

The goal of the Richland High School Counseling Department is to foster the development of each student's full academic, artistic and athletic potential by providing opportunities in a caring, safe, positive environment.
