Richland School District Receives “Great Pennsylvania Schools Designation”

The Richland School District has been designated as a Great Pennsylvania School by the Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA). The Great Pennsylvania Schools (GPS) designation recognizes public school districts that provide students with access to rigorous academic programming, maintain strong community connections, demonstrate sound financial practices, and exhibit organizational resilience.

Official Statement from Richland School District - April 8, 2026

The Richland School District was notified today, April 8, 2026, of a safety concern involving an elementary student. We are working closely with the Richland Police Department to conduct a thorough investigation.

  • Excellent Academic Programs Richland School District has led the four (4) county Appalachia Intermediate Unit 08 in academic achievement for two consecutive years in the Pittsburgh Business Times rankings of all 500 public school districts in Pennsylvania.
  • Fiscally Responsible School Board The Richland School District spends less per student than 487 of the 500 Pennsylvania Public School Districts while maintaining strong programs in academics, arts, and athletics.
  • Great Athletics Programs The Richland Rams have historically performed at high levels in individual and team sports. Within the past year, individual and teams have won the conference, district, and state championships.
