About Me

Hello! My name is Laura Heming, and I am the district’s Speech-Language Pathologist. This is my 11th year working as an SLP in the school setting.

I earned my Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in May 2014. I maintain both my ASHA certification and my license to practice in Pennsylvania. I have always loved working in schools and supporting students as they reach their goals, build confidence, and grow as communicators. In my therapy sessions, I strive to make learning engaging, fun, and supportive while helping students develop the speech and language skills they need to succeed.

I live just outside of New Florence, where my husband and I keep a small hobby farm with mini donkeys and a variety of other animals. We have three wonderful boys—Colton, McCoy, and Waylon—who keep life busy and full of joy. In my free time, I enjoy boating, fishing, and spending time with my family.

🦃 Gobble, Gobble… Great Speech Skills Ahead! 🦃

Our speech and language students have been busy this month creating turkey-tastic masterpieces for our hallway display! Each student colored and customized their own turkey while practicing their individual speech and language goals.

From articulation practice to expanding language skills, these talented kiddos really showed what they can do. Their hard work is something to talk about… and these turkeys are truly something to gobble up!

We hope everyone enjoys our “speech and gobble-language” flock as much as we enjoyed making them! 🧡

🦃💬 Wishing you a ‘turkey-rrific’ November full of great conversations and even better communication!

Turkey Talk Speech

This week in speech therapy, students have started creating Turkey Talk Speech Turkeys to decorate the door to our classroom.

If you were unable to reach me at conferences this past Friday or Monday, please feel free to reach out via email or phone call.

Welcome, November!

Hello!

Monthly speech and language practice calendars for November have been distributed, and sent home this week. If you did not receive one, and would like one, please let me know!

Reminder that parent/teacher conferences are this Friday (11/7/25) and Monday (11/10/25)

This week in speech therapy, we created silly pumpkin faces! Each pumpkin’s teeth featured our target speech sounds and language goals. Students practiced their words while building their pumpkins, then expanded their skills by using their targets in conversation. It was a fun and festive way to practice clear speech and strong language skills!

Monthly Practice Calendars

Dear Families,

This year, your child will be bringing home a Speech/Language Practice Calendar each month. These calendars include simple daily activities that take about 10 minutes to complete.

Participation is optional—they are not required assignments—but many families have asked for extra practice and ways to support speech and language growth at home. The calendars are a fun and easy way to reinforce skills outside of therapy sessions if you’d like to use them.

Thank you for your continued support!
