Hi! Thank you for taking the time to visit my page. To view my classroom website, please click here!
I am so excited to be a second grade teacher at Richland Elementary School! Second grade is a thrilling year filled with tons of hands-on learning experiences while building reading, math, & social skills. I enjoy getting to know each & every student in my class. I foster a welcoming & safe learning environment where every student is a friendly, helpful member of our classroom community. In my classroom, I often refer to the acronym RAMS to encourage all children to reach their fullest potential both academically & socially. By following the RAMS acronym, students are respectful, accountable, motivated, & safe.
Prior to teaching second grade, I have taught first grade & fifth grade. Before graduating from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown with my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education & a minor in Spanish, I went on two amazing adventures. I studied abroad in Sevilla, Spain for a semester. While in Sevilla, I was immersed in Spain's beautiful language & culture. In addition, I had the unique opportunity to student teach in Auckland, New Zealand. I was so lucky to be a part of the incredible experience, & I was absolutely amazed by New Zealand's beauty. I LOVED every minute of my stay! I was able to closely examine New Zealand's world renown literacy program. I incorporate ideas that I gathered in New Zealand into my instruction here.
I am looking forward to working with you & your child. I firmly believe that a strong connection between school & home benefits every child. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns throughout the year.
