Welcome to Fifth Grade! I am thrilled to return to the classroom. I took a few years off with my son while he was young. Now that he has entered school age, I am grateful that I was able to work my way back into the classroom. I look forward to another wonderful school year.
I've always enjoyed kids and truly have a passion for teaching. I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. To further my education, I attended the University of Phoenix Online. By April of 2008, I earned my Master of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education.
My teaching career began with 1st grade at St. Andrew School. It was a terrific experience that led me to a future of teaching different grade levels here at Richland Elementary School. When I began at Richland, I taught 4th grade for about 9 years. Then, I took some time off to raise my son. At the start of his preschool year, I decided it would be a great time to begin teaching again. Luckily in 2020-2021, I had the amazing opportunity to teach 5th grade as a long term sub. During this time, I was able to learn a lot about technology and enjoyed being back in the classroom. In 2021-2022, I had the joyous experience teaching my own Kindergarten class! Now, I can't wait to teach ELA and Social Studies in 5th grade.
To me, teaching is exciting, rewarding and challenging. Children are the most important part of the education system and I plan on doing my best to make sure that your child achieves to the best of his/her ability. With open communication and cooperation, this year will be a success.
