Superintendent's Biography

Biography

Mr. Arnold Nadonley is the Superintendent of the Richland School District in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He believes that “A student is never an interruption of our work - he or she is the purpose of our work!” and is deeply committed to the Richland School District’s mission to Empower Every Student to Pursue Excellence Every Day. 

Arnie has been serving as Richland’s Superintendent of Schools since 2014. Prior to that, he served as Superintendent of Schools in the Glendale School District and the Blairsville-Saltsburg School District (now River Valley School District). Mr. Nadonley began his career in education in 1989 with the Windber Area School District where he began as a special education teacher working in grades kindergarten through twelve. During his time at Windber Area, he served as Assistant Elementary Principal/Special Education Coordinator, Elementary Principal/Special Education Coordinator, and finally Director of Education.

 

Arnie completed his undergraduate work at California University of Pennsylvania (now PennWest University) with a dual major in elementary and special education. He attained his Master's Degree at Saint Francis University, his Principal’s certification from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and his Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility at California University of Pennsylvania.

 

Mr. Nadonley and his wife, Bonnie (who is also a teacher in the Forest Hills School District), have three grown children, Anthony (Samantha), Allison (Chris), and Rylan. They also have three grandchildren, Aaliyah, Adalynn, and Cayden. Arnie and Bonnie live locally with their dog, Onyx.
