I have loved teaching for over 30 years. I have been a primary teacher for most of my career and love working with children. I believe that children are the best part of teaching. I have a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. Outside of school, I live in Richland with my husband. I have two married daughters.  One of them is a teacher too!  I am also a proud grandma!

Language Arts Oct. 25 to 28

We are finishing up the story The Ugly Vegetables and moving to the story Super Storms.  The students really seem to like this one about types of weather.  the skills include: consonant digraphs (sh, ch, th and wh sounds), compound words and verbs(action verbs).
Homework:
Monday: Study spelling and vocabulary for The Ugly Vegetables
Tuesday: Test Day - no homework
Wednesday: See new packet, complete spelling paper
Thursday: Read Story, sign bookmark

Math Oct. 25 to 28

We are working on subtraction strategies.  You can use addition to subtract, go back or use 10 facts.
Homework:
Monday: Homelinks 3-7
Tuesday: Homelinks 3-8
Wednesday: Homelinks 3-9
Thursday: Homelinks 3-10

Here is our class with the pen pal letters they received and the ones they are sending.  We are pen pals with Mrs. Burgh's (Mrs. Rifilato's daughter) class in Culpeper Virginia.  Letters will be written once a month.

Lang. Arts. Oct 18 to 22

We are finishing up the story Animals Building Homes and moving to the story The Ugly Vegetables.  We will have our tests on Tuesday and be introduced to new skills of homophones (sound same, spelled different, mean different) end blends that include double letters, drawing conclusions and proper nouns (special nouns that need to be capitalized).
Homework:
Monday: Study spelling and vocab for test
Tuesday: Tests- no homework
Wednesday: See packet complete spelling sheet
Thursday: Read story and sign bookmark.

Math Oct 18 to 22

We are working on addition strategies and related facts to subtraction.  It is important that students practice their facts when you have time at home.   Knowing facts makes understanding harder concepts easier and faster.
Homework:
Monday: homelinks 3-3
Tuesday: homelinks 3-4
Wednesday: homelinks 3-5
Thursday: homelinks 3-6

Lang. Arts Oct 12 to 15

We are starting unit 2.  Our story will go from Tuesday to Tuesday as usual. The skills will include: end blends, words end in y sound like an e, nonfiction story, using prefixes un (means not) and re (means again) and plurals.
