week of 9-11 to 9-15

Remember 9-11
Math : We are working on identifying coins, making facts of 10 and even and odd numbers.
Homework:  Wednesday will be first homework sheet it is marked Homelinks 9-11.  You can also practice with coins at home.  Ask them how to play fishing for 10
Language Arts/reading:  We are working on letter blends with short vowel words(gr, bl, sl st, dr, fl as examples).  We are also working on vocab., expression, cause and effect and subjects in sentences.  A subject is the who in a sentence.
Homework: 
Monday: Write spelling words --see papers
Tuesday: none
Wednesday: vocab sheet
Thursday: practice spelling words.
Science: We are working on landscapes.

Reminders

Please empty fold night and return homework in it.  Please sign agenda nightly.
Please send a snack with your child.  Please ask them about what they are doing at school.  Don't take nothing as an answer.  We are very busy at school.

Sept 5 to 8

Math: We are working on number grids, equivalent names for numbers, acts of 10 and calculator practice,
Homework: practice facts.  Homework for this math series begins will begin next week with lesson 1-11.
Language Arts (reading):  I'm pleased with how hard the students are working.
We will continue to work on short vowels, especially e,o,u, author's purpose, plurals, kinds of sentences, character's feelings and plot.
Homework: Tuesday:  write spelling works
                    Wednesday: read The Big Red Lollipop and sign bookmark
                    Thursday: vocab sheet and study spelling words
                     Friday: test

Our class shared our "All About Me"  bags.  We learned a lot about each other.  Mrs. Oliver and I shared too!

Week of Aug. 28 to Sept.1

We will be beginning reading.  Our lessons our a theme of culture.  We will be working on short vowels and statements/questions.
Homework:
See packet sent on Monday.  On Monday night, complete spelling sheet and return.  Practice vocab and spelling nightly.
We are starting math.  Homework from the series won't start for a few weeks.  You can practice facts at home.

Math:  we are reviewing skills like telling time and money.  These are skills to practice over the summer.

Language Arts:  We are working on finishing the theme of myths.

Tuesday: Abc order sheet
Wednesday: grammar sheet
Thursday: study vocab and spelling

Field Trip Day May 18

We are going to Living Treasures on Thursday, May18th.  There was a reminder send on Monday about wearing Richland shirt, bringing a bag lunch and no money.  Please dress for weather.

Week of May 15 to 19

Math: We are working on reviewing skills and taking the end of the book test.  No homework
Language Arts:  We are working on the theme of myths.  Skills include 2 syllable le ending words, main idea/details and adjectives that compare.
Homework:  Monday: Spelling paper
                     Tuesday:  ABC order paper
                      Wednesday: Read story and sign bookmark
                       Thursday:  study spelling words

Week of May 8-12

Math:  We have finished our book.  We are working on review skills and will be taking the end of the book test.  It will be given over two days.
Homework: none
Language Arts: We are finishing up our thee of money.  Our skills include: author's purpose, paragraph clues, CVCe syllables and articles (this, that, these, those)
Homework: Monday: spelling sheet
                    Tuesday: vocab sheet
                     Wednesday: worksheet
                      Thursday:  study for spelling and vocab test on Friday
 
We have been having JA (Junior Achievement) with Mr. Doug on Wednesdays.  It teaches Economics on grade level.
